Stone carving, delicious food, great conversations, perfect location.
SeaSculpt is a collaboration between two long term friends with a shared passion to bring their different skills together to create exciting opportunities for people to carve stone, enjoy amazing wholesome and delicious food, meet new friends, indulge in great conversations and walk by the sea.
The venue is a delightful colonial style home set on the cliffs in Swanage with spacious and luxurious accommodation on one level. Meals are served in the large family kitchen with a cosy Aga and there is a large relaxing lounge with bright conservatory. The large and well equipped workshop is only a few steps away from the main house through the south facing garden. There is plenty of parking.
Courses take place over three days and are suitable for complete beginners and also students with some previous experience. Beginners will follow a structured project and carve a small bas relief in a soft limestone which will be provided along with all the basic hand tools needed to complete the carving. Drawing skills are not necessary!
Students will receive close guidance in basic carving techniques and are shown ways to work safely. For those with previous experience there will be the opportunity to carve a piece to match their skills. During the course, you will be given the opportunity to carve your own piece of stone with expert mentoring whilst being cared for and nourished with great food and stimulating company.
“You have a great workshop and the two of you make it a winning combination.” Mike
